Because according to level 4 Motorola support on why I can’t install Google’s own .apk web install app to allow scripting:

due to carrier restrictions the option to enable untrusted sources has been disabled

Guess, what, due to carrier stupidity I’m returning this otherwise pretty nifty phone. I’m also looking to turning off AT&T completely, dumping my iPhone, and going with an android phone.

    • And just how the fuck can I jailbreak it. Oh that’s right, you can’t. Not yet anyway.

apphacker stop being a bitch jailbreak that shit! my co worker in the mobile phones department has a backflip and its rooted or whatever! you should give it a try you puss!

      • Dude, I returned my backflip over a month ago and am now rocking a sweet Nexus One.

    • You don’t jailbreak Android phones. You root them.

Regardless, some people enjoy having warranties.

People can keep there waranties they just have to keep the original NON-rooted/jailbroken firmware or whatever so before you send it in or bring it to a store you can have a legit version

    • Clearly, you don’t get the point.. Unlike iPhone users, most of us don’t like playing cat and mouse, when there are other mobiles available which don’t require jailbreaking!

  2. All I can say is WOW. It is almost like there is an effort to make the first Android Fail when you stack it up against the iPhone. If you cannot get tech junkies to recommend to friends you screwed. Your post makes me happy to be a Verizon customer. They suck less

  3. Well that’s a disappointment. I was thinking I would get a nexus if it came to att, but not if they’re pulling this BS.

  4. The Backflip is a heaping mound of garbage. I ordered the phone site unseen due to it being the first Android phone on ATT and I have been waiting patiently. As a customer of Cingular, now AT&T, for over 10 years I can say this is the straw that broke the camel’s back. Not only have I returned the phone in its’ unopened box to AT&T for a full refund I am dropping my $240/mo plan that I have been paying them for years and going to T-Mobile for a Nexus One and the other 4 lines for my family. Whether this is a deliberate attempt at sabotaging their first entry into the Android market or just plain stupidity doesn’t matter anymore. They have lost a sale and a loyal customer to their own short-sightedness and stupidity.

  5. You are going to Tmobile for the Nexus One? u are a moron. here go here http://www.google.com/phone u can buy the nexus for ATT wow, glad to see you are gone from the worlds fastest 3g network. dumbass

    • I bought the Nexus One about a few days before Google notified the world it would release an AT&T version. As for “fastest 3G network” T-mobile is ahead of the competition in developing a 21mb/s fast HSPA+ network which will be much faster than anything available on AT&T:

T-mobile has also provided me with some support options which you wont get from AT&T. So I wont be switching it for an AT&T version. Who’s the moron now motherfucker? :D

  6. sorry i got a back flip and my phone dose back flips man whats good jail breaking phones is fun thats the hole point in getting a smart phone smart one at$t is the shit t mobile uses there fucking towers because they cant afford there own and next year there updating there service and making it free to call around the world so beat me up fag boys there coming out with new AD updates for all AD phone that are coming out 2010 =–
